Spanish Immersion

At Escuelita Colibrí, children learn Spanish naturally through play, conversation, music, stories, and daily activities. Our full immersion program helps children develop language skills while building confidence, cultural awareness, and a love of learning.

Founded by Rosa Lara, a native of El Salvador with over 30 years of experience in early childhood education, Escuelita Colibrí creates a warm and welcoming environment where every child can thrive.

Our Learning Environment

Escuelita Colibrí provides a bright, welcoming space designed to inspire exploration and creativity. Children enjoy access to a variety of engaging learning areas, including art and creative expression spaces, a children's library, indoor play structures, opportunities for active play and discovery.

With small class sizes and low child-to-teacher ratios, we are able to build strong relationships with each child, provide individualized support, and create a nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

Our Educators

Our caring team of native Spanish-speaking educators is dedicated to providing a rich language immersion experience and high-quality early childhood education.

Leading our program is Rosa Lara, founder and director of Escuelita Colibrí. Originally from El Salvador, Rosa has devoted more than three decades to nurturing young children and supporting families through high-quality early childhood education. Her experience, leadership, and deep commitment to children's growth are at the heart of everything we do.

To ensure the highest standards of care and education, our educators maintain current certifications in Pediatric CPR, First Aid, Health, and Safety. In addition, our teaching team participates in ongoing professional development, including monthly coaching and training from an experienced SFUSD Transitional Kindergarten educator. This continued learning helps us provide a high-quality program that supports kindergarten readiness while honoring the developmental needs of young children.
